The Avair™ SL bracket is the only one-piece self-ligating bracket. The wire retention clip is in the bracket body and the whole bracket is functioning to support the clip. Just click in - no mechanical parts to move.

Use the wire director to seat wires in the bracket. Place the double ended forks on either side of the bracket with the wire in the forks, and press the wire into the slot. You'll hear a click when the wire is seated. Use the single end to carefully pull the wire out of the bracket slot. 

Avair™ SL is a self-ligating bracket with a twin-wing design. Common ligatures and attachments may be used as with a regular twin-wing bracket. It is not necessary to change the bracket or its configuration during treatment. You have a choice on whether to use ligatures and attachments, tooth-by-tooth, during the entire treatment. 

Avair™ SL brackets are made from a hybrid biocompatible material that is a dispersion of Acrylic and two different copolymers, with a small amount of polycrystalline alumina for increased strength. The material and the manufacturing process for Avair™ SL are the most sophisticated and advanced stage of a technology, art, and science.  

Avair™ SL brackets are clear and stain-resistant. The material of the Avair™ SL bracket won't deform during treatment like standard composite brackets, and won't wear like common polyurethane and bicarbonate materials. Avair™ SL delivers orthodontic forces without the brittle and abrasive characteristics of sapphire or ceramic, but its shore hardness prevents teeth from being damaged as with ceramic brackets. This bracket will not shatter or break during debonding. 

Avair™ SL brackets are formed with a laser manufacturing process that combines advanced designs and a unique clip into the only one-piece, self-ligating bracket. 

The Avair™ SL brackets feature a mechanical locking base with micro-etching and additional undercuts on the base for improved bond strength. There is no need for any additional coating or silane. Shear Test results are available.

The Avair™ SL Bracket System is easily bonded to and removed from a tooth. Each bracket has one or more retention grooves built into the base. The grooves cross the base surface in a mesial-to-distal direction allowing bonding composites to flow inside and set. In addition to the grooves, the surface of the base is micro-etched during manufacturing.  

The combination of grooves and micro-etching allows the bracket to be cemented to the tooth surface using the bonding cement of your choice. Light Cure, Self Cure, and One Step work successfully with the Avair™ SL Bracket System.  

For debonding the brackets, we recommend the Aesthetic Debonding Instrument shown here. This instrument grips the entire bracket firmly at the bracket and tooth interface to ensure a clean, smooth removal without breaking or shattering.

For easy positioning, colored dots are on the distal gingival tie wings. A color chart is included in each case of brackets. 

Additional markings at the center top and bottom of the base help to position the bracket on the long axis of the tooth.  

Avair™ SL brackets utilize the benefits of lighter forces and ultra-low friction. For best treatment results, we recommend using Vision™ superelastic nickel titanium, Vision Thermal Flex™ heat activated nickel titanium, and Nexalloy™ beta-titanium wires. 

To ensure proper clip function, use wires sequentially throughout treatment.  

Avair™ SL is available in Roth*, MBT*, and Edgewise prescriptions. 

Roth* and MBT* are also available with or without hooks on cuspids.
